Beginner Appliqué quilt class

Beginner Appliqué (3-Class Series)

Learn appliqué first, then “quilt as you go,” then binding — step by step.

Cost:

  • $50 for the first class (includes the book), $30 for second and third classes
  • $35 techniques-only option (no book). Please bring clip art or a coloring book or a design you’d like to learn with. A kitchen towel + fabric will be provided for practice.

Bring to Class: Yourself (and any fabric scraps you have, if any)

Prerequisite: Sewing 101 / Quilting 101 is useful. If you have never sewn before, please take these two classes first.

Description & Goals:

  • Class 1: Learn how to appliqué
  • Class 2: Learn “quilt as you go” (beginner-friendly, regular sewing machine)
  • Class 3: Learn how to bind

Important: Because pattern books must be ordered, please commit 2 weeks prior.

Beginner quilting class

Beginner Quilting (Panel Quilt)

A great first quilt project using a large panel (about 23" × 45") to jump-start your quilt.

Cost: $65 for the first class (includes supplies and fabric). Batting for a crib size is included.

  • Add $10 for twin batting
  • Add $20 for queen/king batting (not recommended for beginners)
  • Subsequent classes: $30 for each technique you’d like to learn

Bring to Class: Yourself (you may bring your machine if you have one)

Prerequisite: Sewing experience is helpful. If you want to use one of our machines, you need to have taken Sewing Basics 101.

Description & Goals:

  • Piece blocks (as many as needed for your quilt size)
  • Create sashing and borders
  • Attach batting and backing
  • Quilt
  • Add binding

Note: Offered at least once a month. Each month can include a different block technique.

Candy purse sewing project

Candy Purse (Zipper + Lining)

Turn a candy wrapper into a lined purse with a zipper and strap.

Prerequisite: Sewing experience helpful. If you want to use one of our machines, you need to have taken Sewing Basics 101. Sewing or Quilting 102 is also encouraged prior to this.

Crocheting (Basics)

Machine sewing tote class

Machine Sewing 102 (Make a Tote)

Machine Quilting 101 (Potholder Project)

T-shirt quilting class

T-Shirt Quilting 101 (3-Class Series)

Learn how to make a T-shirt quilt over 3 classes (one per month).

Bring to Class: No more than 9 t-shirts (at least 2 to get started). Stabilizer for 9 shirts is included in the class price. Fabric and batting are available for purchase here or you can buy elsewhere.

Prerequisite: Sewing experience helpful. If you want to use one of our machines, you need to have taken Sewing Basics 101.

  • Class 1: Stabilize T-shirts for cutting
  • Class 2: Add sashing and sew shirts together
  • Class 3: Add batting and binding
